Two Options Available:

• 3 Days per Week: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | 9:10 AM – 12:10 PM
• 4 Days per Week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | 9:20 AM – 12:20 PM

This program is designed for children who turn three years old before the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) cutoff date of September 30 of the year in which they are enrolled.

Families may choose between two enrollment options:

3-Day Program

Classes meet three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Each class includes up to ten children with two full-time teachers in each classroom.

4-Day Program (New Offering!)

Classes meet four days per week (Monday through Thursday). Each class includes ten to twelve children with two full-time teachers in each classroom.

Children must be potty trained to attend the three-year-old program.

Program Overview

The Three-Year-Old program is designed to introduce children to school in a fun, nurturing, and relaxed environment. Our goal is to align with foundational early learning concepts supported by VBCPS while fostering a love of learning through hands-on experiences.

Teachers work closely with students to strengthen listening skills and to introduce early literacy, writing, math, and social development in a developmentally appropriate way.

Learning Areas

Vocabulary Development

Daily conversations between teachers and students help build vocabulary and communication skills. Weekly Show and Tell activities encourage children to share information and practice speaking in front of their peers.

Pre-Reading Skills

Children develop early literacy skills such as hand-eye coordination, visual tracking, and letter awareness through books, games, and structured activities.

Art & Creative Expression

Daily art projects using paint, crayons, glue, scissors, and other materials support creativity and strengthen fine motor skills.

Science Exploration

Children engage in simple science experiments that encourage curiosity, observation, and discovery.

Technology Introduction

Age-appropriate technology, including supervised iPad activities when appropriate, is used to enhance and support learning experiences.

Early Academics

The program introduces foundational academic concepts including letter recognition, phonics, numbers, basic shapes, and colors.

Children learn to write the “Letter of the Week” and are guided in proper name writing (first letter capitalized followed by lowercase letters). Shapes and colors are introduced in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL).

Parent/teacher conferences are offered throughout the year to support ongoing communication and student progress.

Praise and Worship (PAW)

Weekly Praise and Worship (PAW) gatherings bring the school community together to learn a monthly Bible verse, review the Letter of the Week, and participate in a short Bible story, music, and movement activities.

Tools for Success

Classrooms are equipped with age-appropriate materials including educational games, manipulatives (such as blocks and counters), imaginative play centers, and a well-stocked library corner. Children are encouraged to explore books independently and participate in daily group story time.

Social Development

Three-year-olds are introduced to classroom routines such as lining up, circle time, and following directions. Sharing, cooperation, friendship-building, and clear communication are encouraged throughout the day to support social and emotional growth.
